15-0343 Greenery. What a fresh, optimistic color! Cause for celebration! A grassy green with enough lime to give it some energy and playfulness. Greenery is a straightforward, honest green that wants the best for all of us.
It turns out that I’ve been craving this color recently. As I mentioned on Instagram, the Bossettes and I just installed new Roman Shades in our office that are a Greenery green. How fortuitous!
I’d seen and immediately fallen in love with Lotus Garden by Schumacher, and I had to have it. An office re-do followed. (Hey, sometimes you have to just carpe the diem, know what I mean?) So down came the beautiful but not quite me accent wall of Designer’s Guild’s Portier…
But I digress. I am so, so delighted with Greenery, and so grateful to Pantone for not burdening us with a depressing, boring color. Like 2015’s Marsala. (Also known in bossyland as dried blood.) Or colors with no teeth, such as this past year’s Rose Quartz and Serenity. Yawn.
We know that those of us in the design field will interpret Greenery liberally in the coming year, which means using more greens in general. Which is fine.
Thank you again, Pantone, for making Greenery your color of the year. For giving us hope in this time of political and social unrest. For giving us a fresh start. A clear, honest, downright pretty color to inspire us in 2017.
Think I’m overstating the importance of Greenery? Well, I can think of worse ideals to cling to. Can’t you? ;)
